A full-day guided tour includes a d 'rive down Pennsylvania Avenue past the FBI, Federal Triangle, Treasury Building and Blair House. You'll circle the Ellipse and continue past Corcoran Gallery, Washington Monument and Ford's Theater. Visit the Jefferson Memorial then proceed to the National Cathedral and the Capitol Building. See the Bill of Rights and Declaration of Independence in the National Archives. The last stop of the day is the Smithsonian Institution where you may explore on your own. Depart the hotel for a walking tour of Mount Vernon and a stroll about the grounds. Stop in Alexandria for a colonial style lunch at Gadsby's Tavern. At Christ Church, where Washington worshiped, enjoy a visit guided by a member of the congregation. Arrive in Williamsburg in time for the Groaning Board, a festive dinner served to visitors since colonial times and complemented by the Colonial Dancers, members of the Fife and Drum Corps and balladeers. Drive to Charlottesville for a guided tour of Thomas Jefferson's domed mansion, Monticello. Lunch is served at historic Michie Tavern, known as the "Inn of Presidents."
