Elk Refuge Yellowstone

2nd day BLD

This tour is ideal for shutter-bugs; a professional photographer offers tips on capturing this breathtaking scenery and its wildlife on film. A horse-drawn sleigh takes you into the 24,000-acre National Elk Refuge, home to herds of these grand creatures. This afternoon, a snowcoach home of Old Faithful Geyser and the world's largest and most varied collection of hydrothermal activity. OLD FAITHFUL SNOW LODGE.

West Yellowstone

3rd day BLD

After lunch, make your way to West Yellowstone and see Upper and Lower Geyser Basin, Firehole Falls, Firehole Cascades and the Fountain Paint Pot areas. Winter is the best time to see wildlife. The geothermal heat of the area melts the snow and exposes winter grass, attracting mule deer, bighorn sheep, elk, coyotes, bison and a wide variety of birds including the rare trumpeter swan. Dogsledding

Grizzly Discovery Center

4th day BD

Learn about dogsledding from a couple who have been training sled dogs for years. Try your hand at the art of mushing and take a dogsled ride. Spend the afternoon at the Grizzly Discovery Center, the first educational facility devoted entirely to bears. See Yellowstone through the eyes of a grizzly at the IMAX theater. STAGE COACH INN.

Christmas Eve Norris Geyser Basin Mammoth Hot Springs

5th day BLD

Visit Norris Geyser Basin, where geysers and mudpots hiss, bubble and erupt in a showcase of thermal forces at work. Arrive at Mammoth Hot Springs and walk the paths over the vividly colored, travertine terraces. Christmas Eve candlelight service takes place at Mammoth Hot Springs Chapel. Christmas day Lamar Valley

6th day BLD

Merry Christmas! Travel through the Lamar Valley, known for outstanding wildlife viewing. Recently reintroduced to the area, wolves have been spotted here. Visit Petrified Tree and Canyon Village. Tonight, celebrate with a delicious Christmas dinner at OLD FAITHFUL SNOW LODGE.

Jackson

7th day BLD

On your return trip to Jackson, tour the new Wildlife Art Museum and have the rest of the day free. Rejoin your traveling companions for a farewell dinner party. FLAGG RANCH.
